Hey Hey Warpath Family,

Some weeks don’t arrive very easy, do they?

They show up carrying reminders of the times you thought were finished. Old emotions pop up. Old questions get real loud again. You catch yourself revisiting moments you’d rather leave behind, wondering if they mattered or if they simply took something from you.

That tension isn’t accidental.

There are times when reflection isn’t about reopening wounds. It’s about recognizing growth you couldn’t see while you were still inside the struggle. What once felt like a delay, a loss, or a detour may have been the very ground where something deeper was taking root.

This week, we are slowing down long enough to ask an important question.

What if the season you’re tempted to label as wasted was actually forming something lasting?

You’re part of a movement. Welcome home.

We’re so grateful to have you as part of the Warpath Ministries community!

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms"

Ephesians 6:12

If It Grew You Closer, It Wasn't Wasted

There are times in life that only make sense once you’re on the other side of them.

When you’re inside the struggle, it feels inefficient… It feels unnecessary… It feels like lost time, lost energy, and lost ground. You replay the choices in your mind. You question the timing of everything. You wonder why it had to happen the way it did instead of the way you planned.

I’ve learned something the hard way (as usual). Not everything that slows you down is meant to stop you. Some seasons aren’t about progress. They’re about reflection.

Growth isn’t always a forward motion. Sometimes growth is becoming more honest with yourself and others. Sometimes it looks like surrender. Sometimes it looks like learning how to sit with the discomfort instead of running from it. Those moments rarely feel productive, but they’re deeply formative and incredibly necessary.

If the season forced you to pray when you normally wouldn’t have. If it stripped away distractions you were hiding behind. If it revealed weaknesses you kept ignoring. If it deepened your dependence on Him, instead of your own confidence.

Then it wasn’t wasted!

We tend to measure everything by outcomes. God measures them by closeness to Him.

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

That verse is simple.

Drawing near doesn’t always happen during your strong times. It usually happens during broken times. When the illusion of control fades away, the distance between who we think we are and who we actually are becomes impossible to ignore. That’s usually where real connection starts.

Some of your most meaningful spiritual growth probably didn’t happen in moments of victory. It happened when you were tired, unsure, and humbled enough to listen.

You still might wish those times had gone differently. That doesn’t make you ungrateful. It makes you human.

But regret changes shape when you realize the season did something in you that comfort never could.

If it refined your character. If it softened your heart. If it corrected your direction. If it pulled you closer instead of pushing you away.

Then it served a purpose, even if you wouldn’t choose it again.

Not every season is meant to be repeated. Some are meant to just be understood.

What did that season remove from your life that you were holding onto too tightly? And what did it replace it with?

Sit with that question before you rush to label the experience as failure or loss.

You don’t have to romanticize the pain. You don’t have to pretend it was easy.

But you can acknowledge this…

If it grew you closer to God, closer to truth, or closer to who you’re becoming, then it wasn’t wasted.

Even the hard seasons count.

Together, we are Warpath, one body, one Spirit, one mission.

Keep pressing forward. Keep praying. Keep trusting.

Jeff

Mental Health Check-In

Take a moment and check in with yourself honestly.

  • Are you still carrying guilt from a season that already taught you what it needed to?

  • Are you labeling growth as failure because it didn’t look the way you expected?

  • Are you rushing forward without acknowledging how far you’ve actually come?

You’re allowed to grieve what was lost and honor what was gained.

If something from the past is still heavy, that doesn’t mean you’re weak.
It means it mattered to you.

Pause… Breathe.
You don’t need to have everything resolved today.
Awareness is progress.

Warrior Spotlight

One of the things that makes this community different is that growth doesn’t stay private. It shows up in real ways. It shows up in consistency, service, and the willingness to stand in the gap for others when it would be easier to just stay quiet.

We want to highlight someone who lives that out daily.

🎉Candi🎉

Candi is someone who has quietly become a steady presence in this community. Her recovery has been built through showing up, doing the work, and choosing responsibility even on the hard days.

She steps up and chairs meetings. She checks in on people when they are struggling. She makes space for honesty and reminds others that they aren’t walking this path alone.

Candi’s growth isn’t just measured by how far she’s come, but by how freely she gives back to everyone. Her life is a living example of what happens when recovery turns outward and becomes service.

Below is a piece of writing from Candi, shared with permission, in her own words.

Dear Jesus,

I know You’re real.
I know Your hand still heals.

Right now, I need to confess.
I feel like I’m folding under the weight of all the stress.

It has been one thing right after another, it seems.
Late at night it consumes me, even in my dreams.

Then I remember just where You brought me from.
I remember who You are helping me become.

I am reminded I don’t face these battles alone.
I can take it all to the throne.

When I feel no one understands,
I am reminded You’ve always had a plan.

So I wipe the tears and stand on my feet,
Trusting that You will not allow defeat.

It may get dark for a moment,
But the sun always shines again.

I opened my heart, and I let You in.
Fear no longer has a place with me.

You are the one writing my destiny.

Thank you, Candi, for showing us what lived recovery looks like. Your faith, consistency, and willingness to serve others speak louder than words. The way you show up matters, and the impact you are making reaches further than you realize.

From the Blog: Armor & Grace

Armor & Grace is where we slow things down and go a little deeper. It’s a space for honest writing about faith, trauma, recovery, mental health, and the tension of learning how to stay open while still protecting what matters.

Each post is written with the same heart that shapes this community. Real questions. Lived experience. Grace without shortcuts. Strength without pretending.

It’s a blog that speaks directly to growth, resilience, and learning how to walk forward without losing yourself along the way.

If something in today’s newsletter resonated with you, there is a good chance one of these pieces will meet you right where you are.

Prayer Corner

A Prayer for What Still Hurts

God,

Some seasons still ache when we think about them.
Some lessons came wrapped in loss, confusion, and exhaustion.
We admit that there are parts of our story we still wish had gone differently.

Today, we ask for clarity without bitterness.
Healing without denial.
And closeness without conditions.

Help us see what You were shaping when we felt stalled.
Help us trust that nothing surrendered in obedience was wasted.
And help us rest in the truth that You were near, even when we felt unsure.

We release the need to rewrite the past.
We receive the growth it produced.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."

Proverbs 27:17
